Jaysica Marvell was elected as a Liberal Democrat councillor for Chells Ward in 2026.

Jaysica is a social media consultant, working with small businesses to help them grow through effective digital marketing and engagement. She also lends her skills to run the social media for Stevenage Liberal Democrats.

Born in Gibraltar, Jaysica comes from a family shaped by the history of the Partition of India. She also spent part of her childhood in New York City, experiences that helped develop her belief in democracy, inclusion and strong communities.

Jaysica has lived in Stevenage since 2002 with her husband Tony, whom she met at university. While Jaysica’s journey to Stevenage has been international, Tony’s family, the Marvells, have been part of the Stevenage community for generations. Together, they have raised two daughters who attended local schools.

Passionate about supporting young people and community life, Jaysica volunteers as a mentor with MCR Pathways that helps young people go on to further education and careers. She is also actively involved in local theatre and creative arts and has been a member of various communities in Chells and the rest of Stevenage.

On Stevenage Borough Council, Jaysica serves on the Environment and Economy Committee and the Licensing Committee. She is committed to listening to residents and working hard to make Chells an even better place to live.
